Just half an hour in the car from Benidorm you'll find the Caves of Canelobre, specifically next to the village of Busot. These are apparently still the largest and deepest caves open to holidaymakers. Travel down the 141 steps through the heart of the vault and stare in dismay at the spectacular, glistening stalagmites and stalactites.
Clever lighting highlights the unique shapes formed by the rocks, from a dragon's head to a jellyfish, as well as a stalagmite that resembles a candelabra, meaning "canelobre" in the Valencian dialect. Over recent times the caves have also become a popular venue for groups owing to the amazing acoustics. And if you are lucky enough to be in the area when one of these special concerts is being held then you must obtain tickets. They really are un-missable.
