Take a walk on the wildside

Benidorm and indeed the Costa Blanca in general, provide plenty opportunities for visitors to get up close and personal to their favourite animals. Particularly popular with children is the Benidorm wildlife park, Terra Natura, which is a fun and educational family day out.

Terra Natura

Not a zoo, nor a safari ..!

Located alongside the famous theme park Terra Mitica, just five minutes drive from Benidorm, Tera Natura is a wildlife park with themed areas that recreate the natural environment of America, Asia and Europe for its resident animals.

With more than 1,500 animals from 200 species (more than 50 of which are endangered) and 160 classes of plant, a day trip to Terra Natura guarantees a great adventure for all the family. Learn about the phenomenon of the various flora and fauna pertaining to each area and also witness the impressive assembly of rhinos, crocs, parrots, monkeys, lions and tigers, that are roaming freely in wide open spaces of natural habitat rather than being encaged behind bars.

Vergel Safari Park

You can'y get any closer to nature!

While you drive through the Vergel Safari Park you'll find lions, tigers, leopards and wolves roaming free - the more curious of which will on occasion stroll right up to your car and check you out! There are also monkeys, ostriches, wolves and zebras to be admired, in addition to a very entertaining seal and dolphin show during the warmer months. Kids will love the rides that are available on the mini trains and of course they'll get great pleasure from the multiple play areas. Plus there's a farm animal area with more domesticated creatures like pigs and ponies, designed especially for smaller children.

Aitana Safari Park

Mountain safari

A twenty minute drive out of Benidorm will take you to a safari park beautifully located in the Aitana mountains. Here you'll find elephants, lions, tigers, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, wolves and deer. There is also an aviary with birds of prey such as vultures and falcons plus other birds like ostriches, emus, pelicans and parrots. For the little ones there is a playground and a children's zoo with horses and donkeys, as well as a special nursery where you can watch all the Park's newborn being raised.

Mundomar

So much more than a Dolphin Show!

Animal fans will be spoilt for choice at the Mundomar Marine and Exotic Animal Park. It's a world of parrots, flamingos, turtles, dolphins, sea lions, seals, otters, bats and penguins to explore. And for those in search of so much more than just a sightseeing exercise there's a Parrot Show with audience participation, a wonderfully creative sea lion show and a dolphin extravaganza to knock the socks off any of our American counterparts as these wonderful sea creatures perform in the water with a troop of professional synchronised swimmers.

Cactuslandia

Prickly paradise

For aspiring botanists and those who just love prickly things, Cactuslandia is a large private garden specialising in the cultivation of cacti and tropical fruit plants, including mango trees, guava trees, papayas and bananas. With three square kilometres of gardens and over 1000 classes of cacti, the park is "a must" day out for anyone in the slightest green fingered. There is also a small Natural History Museum there exhibiting all kinds of fossils, shells, corals and insects.
